New Angkor Market - White Center
This is the first post in a series on White Center Washington. The New Angkor Market took the prize for the shop on main street most worthy of being photographed. It was a difficult project complicated by traffic which kept trying to get in my way and run me down. The physical dimensions of the subject required a lot of photos and sort of shoot around the store approach.

The New Angkor Market?
According to Wikipedia, Angkor was the site of a series of capital cities of the Khmer empire for much of the period from the 9th century to the 15th century CE. Their ruins (13°24'N, 103°51'E) are located amid forests and farmland to the north of the Great Lake (Tonle Sap), near present day Siem Reap, Cambodia, and are a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The Buddhist temples of the Angkor area number over one thousand, ranging in scale from nondescript piles of brick rubble scattered through rice fields to the magnificent Angkor Wat, said to be the world's largest single religious monument. Many of the temples at Angkor have been restored, and together they comprise the premier collection of examples of Khmer architecture. Visitor numbers approach one million annually.

The photographer Len Woolf who I haven't seen in a few years since he moved to Vashon Island was dabbling in Buddhism and talked to me about it. As a large format B&W artist being a Buddhist puts him in company with some big names like Minor White and probably some others.
Broke down yesterday and purchased a digital SLR, the lightest one I could get an Olympus. I will post some photos as soon as I read get familiar with it.
